Yes, ageism is real. I wish it weren’t a factor, but I’ve heard from recruiters that sometimes resumes get screened out just based on experience length or graduation dates. I’ve started using a ‘hybrid’ resume with no dates for education and only my last 3 jobs with the years. It's getting more views, from what I've been seeing so far.
Yes, I have learned to hide my age Impossible to hide during an interview, though.
I've seen people trim dates so age bias won't be a factor but I've found that some of them end up giving the hiring manager suspiciousness since there is missing info. Or the ATS won't flag it. I would look into the company you're applying to and see if you think ageism would be a problem before fully editing you resume.
