This is me, and it seems to always happen in retail. I would explain why you deserve a raise, and if they don't give it to you, find something else!
You can make the case that you deserve a raise. Point out that you've grown in your role and you're a more valuable employee now than you were when your pay was set. Or you could try to move up to a better job in the organization, or move to another company entirely. If you want to make a major pivot, leave retail and try to find a job doing some other form of sales.
When, employees demand more pay, it will change. Until people stop taking certain wages, things will remain the same.
I understand. I work 45-50 hours a week paid salary at 40 (and not like my weekly check is even big enough to survive on my own with food/rent/bills). Never does salary work in the employees favor where I get to work from home a couple weeks or work a 30 hour week. One week I worked 34 hours and still had to pay in 8 hours of sick time for being out one day that week. I’m also doing the job of multiple people because we don’t staff the correct amount of office personnel. I don’t even know how to keep stretching myself between states, tasks and constant retraining of everyone around me. I can relate to this so much!
