Great question! I found chewing gum consistently before diving has helped to work the jaw more before diving
Is this due to using a rental mouthpiece? If so, buy a really nice one that fits you and travel with that. The only thing holding the mouth piece on is a zip tie, your dive master can replace it for you. Just remember to take it with you.
My wife has a small mouth and her gums used to get recked before she started doing this.
She got this one and it was a night and day difference: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003JPFZOO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_HVC9D7R8GPF06MTYJXDB?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
You may want to buy some extra zip ties just in case they don’t have any extra or are going to charge you.
The gold standard for this is the seacure custom mouthpiece, and it's well worth it. If you dive that much you probably own your regs but if not zip ties are cheap and it's a few second swap.
Some swear by comfo-bite aqua lung style but it makes me gag. The one mentioned by another with the Amazon link are good but sometimes the teeth part is a different density than the rest and I also don't love that. For stages and deco regs where I don't feel like investing in the seacure, I love the long bite style as well. Found a vendor selling them at dema 8 years ago and I bought a bag, still have a few left. The ones that have a marked top side, which has a over bite compared to the bottom is even better. And these are way cheaper than sea cure even though for your main reg, sea cure is the bees knees.
