Does anyone have a part-time data gig on top of their job that they like? I've done a little teaching before and it's really fun.

Tutoring! I love it and it can be an efficient income stream.

I’ll answer your questions based on my first and secondhand experience:

Who?: any students (I have the range to tutor from 2nd grade to grad students, & adult learners preparing for GED, etc) If you don’t already know your preferred audience, be open to trying the spectrum to find your comfort zone.

Finding them?: 1. college campuses - sign up to be a tutor in their existing services, and then use the setting to advertise your freelance services. 2. There are also sites (eg WYZant) and contracting companies (eg Varsity Tutors) that can help you break in - depends on how much structure or help you need to get going. (For me it’s been word of mouth, or tutoring in public (in the Before Times))

How much $: working on campuses can start at $13/hr (not fantastic pay, but can be avenue to independent tutoring opportunities), contracting companies starting at ~$20/hr, independent starting at ~$35/hr. And that $35 is truly a floor - when you go to WYZant you’ll see tutors with rates $100+/hr. Depends on how much experience and education you have, the context (tutoring for a class vs. a standardized test), the locale, the demand, etc.
Personally, to determine my rate for a particular client, I consider all of the services being requested (ie if I have to travel to get to them, prepare additional exercises/resources, etc). Idk where you are geographically- but you can do some digging to find out what the going rates are in your area.

I teach kids how to use the command line and some other basic foundational comp systems knowledge. We’re talking kids that are just getting into the idea of data science/engineering. It’s really easy to teach (obviously) and pay is good supplemental income.

Contributed to textbooks for a bit in there. Every time a professor or student reaches out even though my name only shows up in fine print, makes my day ❤️

Also lurking in the shadows here and host occasional Live's, but y'all don't pay me lol

Hello All,

I have job joining in UST in next. However, I'm having some concern. Could you please advise me on this.

I have some matrimonial disputes going on in court. Does it affect my job joining in UST?

I believe it's the employees personal matter and nothing to relate on job prospects (this is what i got as a reply from my previous employer)

Do I need to inform about my matrimonial disputes or should I keep quiet? How does background verification team consider this.
