Marriot program is horrible nowadays. I started out with Starwood over ten years ago and the perks were better and the points were valuable. Since the merger it’s gotten worse and worse. Have $10k in spent at Marriott with Titanium status and I think I’ve earned enough for 3-4 free nights at their cheaper hotels.
Considering switching to Hyatt despite lifetime status at Marriott cause I’ve heard their point redemption is much better.
I’m lifetime titanium at Marriott and switched to Hyatt but that is a rapidly sinking ship as well. Hyatt is overwhelmed by all the travel bloggers and influencers using the low point redemptions to lock up all the rooms so there’s no points availability anymore. All the upgrades are gone at Hyatt because the program got oversaturated in the past two years from all the Marriott and Hilton refugees. Hyatt has done a few devaluations and just eliminated its entire US-based customer service team to only have an offshore team and AI bots. Hyatt hotels are deflagging and leaving the system resulting in a smaller footprint from an already tiny footprint.
Grass is not greener. I’ve actually started staying back at Marriotts now and have gotten better service there.

There's a reason why "bonvoyed" is a common term.
As a Lifetime Titanium who switched to Hyatt almost 10 years ago, three is no comparison. Hyatt has Marriott beat by miles. Even though I currently have the lowest Hyatt status, I seem to be treated better.
The only downside to Hyatt is the smaller footprint, but if you can make that work, go for it.
Yep. Pay up is the mantra these days. I am now status agnostic. Not worth chasing any more. Boutiques are better. Free breakfast isn’t worth it. Gina nice brunch spot in the area you are staying or delivery services.
I've been a Hyatt Globalist for 5 years, it's fantastic. Early check-in, upgrades up to standard suite, and free parking (on point stays) are great, but for me, the most valuable benefit is the 4pm checkout.
Smaller footprint than Marriott, especially internationally, but it's never really been an issue for me and I travel quite a bit.
