Ever feel like your career is fine on paper but dead in your gut? I’ve gotten good jobs, solid reviews, even recruiter outreach for great opportunities. And yet I feel like I’m living someone else’s life. I keep showing up, doing what I’m supposed to do, but none of it feels like mine. I don’t even know what I’d rather be doing, which somehow makes it worse. Anyone else go through this kind of career detachment? How did you find your way back?

Sounds like you have a job, not a career.

Was there ever a time when you enjoyed your work? Figure out what changed since then, as a starting point.

Do you feel like you have a meaningful personal life? Why do you feel like you need to be connected to your job? It’s accounting, so it’s obviously boring and uninspiring. It’s just a way to put a roof over your head. Seek meaning elsewhere. There’s a saying and it’s something about “you don’t just have a passion (that you haven’t yet found), you have to create your passion”

“Keep costs down”???? I am happy to keep costs down by not working on this ducking matter anymore. Maybe stop saying yes to matters that are too small to justify our rates and staffing an expensive senior person on them when you’re already dying trying to get anything staffed. You didn’t have to do shit on this matter, didn’t hear you complaining about my taking the lead and managing everything for you when that was happening. >.>

Hi Fishes,

Please help me choose the best company from the below companies:

1. Legato
2. One Advanced
3. Amadeus labs
4. Rakuten India

YOE: 6
Tech stack: Java, Selenium, Rest assured, Postman, Functional testing, etc.

Confused between Amadeus and Rakuten. Rakuten is paying slightly high around 1 LPA more than Amadeus.

Please help me to make the right decision.

Mental Health, inherited or choice? I am finding myself struggling with processing that ADD, Depression, or Bipolar is a chemical imbalance in the brain vs. behavioral therapy. Has anyone here noticed a significant improvement after a prescription to help psych issues?

Where can I brush up on digital trends? Which agencies’ work should I check out? Any blogs worth catching up on? Thanks!

Additional Posts in Accounting Exit Opportunities

Should you discuss salary range with an internal company recruiter prior to setting up an interview? With external recruiters it’s pretty easy to talk about the expected range. I am trying to avoid wasting all of our time if i get to the last interview and they are expecting a salary that is too low for me.

UPDATE (RE: SoCal Assistant Controller Interview)

So after two weeks of waiting (and giving up on the idea of getting the job really), the recruiter got back to me.

They said due to month-end and quarter-end close they were busy and couldn’t get back to me as quickly for a “good update”.

The recruiter said the CFO enjoyed our call, she, the CFO, will call me next week directly to “discuss some final things”.

Not sure if Im hired or not, but are there any questions about the job, comp (cont.)
