First job in Australia, the offer letter has non compete clause. How serious is this, sounds like it will restrict me to work in consulting for good period if I quit ?

I'm having total 7+ yoe (5+yrs embedded developer + 2yrs in FuSa automotive) Initially HCL have denied what I've expected for automotive FuSa and they have given an offer of 10LPA with a justification that my relevant experience is less, now I'm holding an offer of 18 LPA and asked HCL for a counter offer for the same position what do you guys think will HCL offer me this much?
