Standard clause and not worth the paper it is written on unless you're high enough in the hierarchy that they'll put you on gardening leave for the duration of your non compete.
They can't stop you from earning a living in your usual field of employment.
I don’t think that’s the case. It’s while you’re employed with Deloitte you cannot compete with Deloitte either directly or indirectly and it may include accepting an offer from clients. You could quit and join another consulting firm. The compete clause is with Deloitte/clients not Deloitte’s market competitors. This is my understanding hope others would confirm or clarify further.
Congrats on the offer
The non-compete is also with the competition. Generally there are multiple levels of non-compete clauses to discourage you going to either clients or competitors so you essentially don't take away revenue from them.
It's why most people when leaving a consulting firm take 6 months away from a recent client or from consulting to negate the risk any of the clauses will be called upon.
If you go to a client you've not worked on in the past 6 months, or at all, you'll generally have no issues exiting to them.
In saying all that, people switch between consulting companies all the time. Just don't be seen to be poached or to do the poaching, and don't look to be taking clients or project opportunities with you.
Deloitte to DXC. Sorry.
Signed, ex-DXC
Idk what your Deloitte salary is, but if you’re doing SFDC you might as well jump to another B4 for a similar package if you’re looking to leave. Unless the salary difference is so staggering and/or you hate D so much you have to say yes, I’d wait.
