For anyone moving - whatever you do - DO NOT use uhaul’s ubox/moving company. Omg what a NIGHTMARE

Um, I used U-Haul U-Box to move 700 miles (3 states north) and I had zero issues lol. I recommend them.

I booked the box, booked the movers. Got a confirmation email for the movers, but I reached out via phone and email anyway because I always ‘make sure’ on everything in my life (especially something as big as an interstate move). A week before the movers were scheduled, I reached out to confirm we were still on. We were.

They showed up on-time and did a great job. Super smooth experience. Also note that the 3rd party movers are not U-Haul employees, so you can’t really hold that against U-Haul... I went with the movers with the highest rating even though they cost a bit more than the other options, because I wanted it done right. Don’t select movers with zero reviews or a poor rating – it’s just common sense.

Would recommend.

I too, used them to move ~800 miles and had no issues. Reservation was confirmed as soon as I paid. A few hours later, movers on both ends contacted me to confirm details and provide an opportunity for me to ask questions. Day of move, movers picked up U-box, called me to let me know they were on their way and they showed up a little early but were happy to wait if I wasn’t ready. They did literally everything - they had masks, sanitizer, shrink wrap and were so great to work with.

My box was scheduled to arrive in different state in a week but it arrived a few days early and I was notified immediately in case I wanted to it picked up earlier than the originally scheduled date!

Honestly was a good experience for me and like PwC1, would also recommend. I’m sorry SVP that your experience has been a nightmare.

DONT! The whole business is so insane. Google it, I wish I had.

I booked the ubox and the movers through uhaul. Never got confirmation for the movers. So I called. Was told a 3rd party handles the movers. Called the 3rd party. 3rd party told me the movers that were scheduled was (another??? 3rd party) and just went out of business. Was never notified. Setup new movers (through the 3rd party today). Cannot get ahold of these movers. Unclear if any movers will be showing up on moving day.

If you’re confused by the aforementioned - you’d be correct - so am I.

I’m telling you not to do it. Don’t be fooled by their extremely polite call center.

Omg that’s terrible! Moving is stressful as it is; I can’t imagine this added stress of uncertainty.

I also had a good experience with ubox and booking movers through them. Moved cross country and had them store my stuff about 2 weeks before moving into the new place. No big issues and everyone was polite. I did research the 3rd party movers and made sure they were reliable before picking one and didn’t go with the cheapest option either.

like

I also didn’t go w the cheapest option. Jealous of your experience!

Why? Planning to use them in the ST

I had a great experience with them.

Did you already pay for the service?

Honestly I’ve lost track of all the charges and fees and insurance and phone reservation fees...and fee to change the movers (despite the original movers going out of business) but I think it’s somewhere around $1200/1500 - that includes the first month of storage

I’ll second that they are terrible.

Do U Pack (however you spell it). Totally underpriced, so nice and great experience. Screw Uhaul, hate those nasty trucks

Have an offer to start at Deloitte in July in Org Transformation consulting. If it doesn’t get pushed out because of the virus, is it a good time to switch firms in July? Concerned that layoffs may be imminent if I am so new to the firm. I will be coming in at the Consultant level if that matters.
