People over 40, what advice (career, financial, relationship) would you give to people in their early 30s? I see people in their 20s asking this for those over 30 so I'm curious 😊

Experience over things. Know your value and leave if you’re undervalued. You can always make more money but you can’t relive your youth. Don’t do things (or not do things) out of fear - live your only life. You are not defined by your work, title, or profession. Can go on but you get the gist

☝️this! Unless something is a ‘hell yeah! ‘ , don’t do it. Learn to say No, set boundaries and be clear about your priorities. Life is short and unpredictable! Enjoy the ride and don’t live in fear. Don’t live to please everyone. Make your happiness your priority. Be kind, gentle and try not to judge. Everyone is fighting their own battles.

Eliminate toxic people from your life, save $ early by making a budget, build networks in community and other corporate non-profits early and cultivate them along the way, don’t hop jobs unnecessarily sticking but leave one when it starts to get toxic or you are stalled in your career. Buy property early - best investment returns I’ve ever made
When you get enough saved/invested - definitely pay broker to manage your money. I know there are fees that people complain about, but my YOY returns w money managers blow anything else I have done away. Don’t play the stock market for ups and downs - play the long game
Too many other advice/lessons learned to list here, but I hope this helps!

Thanks! What would you consider "enough?" Is it a certain multiple of income or a specific figure?

There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger anywhere on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Does anyone think it’s weird that my firm is bending over backwards to try to keep a first year staff from leaving the firm after she was rated a 2 this year. But now she’s trying to leave and they keep trying to push her to stay saying she can be a partner in 8-9 years and laying it all out in detail. The issue is they laid off other staff (all but her) so maybe that’s it? Find it very odd.

From a vault ranking perspective, is it safe to assume V100 is all sweatshop big law? Reason I ask is because I want to lateral but not to a gunning big law firm — want to stay in big law but not at the ones at the top of the food chain like I am now. Want some sort of work life balance and wondering if the “lower ranked” big law firms offer this? Could just be my fantasy though…

Hi fishes,
I had interviewed for Cognizant and I was asked to submit my documents for offer letter release. This happened on the same day as my interview(Friday 6th May). I submitted my documents and I am trying to contact the HR who scheduled my interview, but she is not picking up my call. My question is how soon can I expect the offer letter to be released? And is there a possibility that they can reject my profile at this stage?
