The issue is they laid off other staff (all but her) so maybe that’s it? Find it very odd.

From a vault ranking perspective, is it safe to assume V100 is all sweatshop big law? Reason I ask is because I want to lateral but not to a gunning big law firm — want to stay in big law but not at the ones at the top of the food chain like I am now. Want some sort of work life balance and wondering if the “lower ranked” big law firms offer this? Could just be my fantasy though…

HR opinion: Do I have any leverage as a hospital nurse case manager in negotiating earned time? I have 15 years within the organization, left for 10 months to be remote during the pandemic while sorting out childcare as immunocompromised family helped. I submitted my documents and I am trying to contact the HR who scheduled my interview, but she is not picking up my call. My question is how soon can I expect the offer letter to be released? And is there a possibility that they can reject my profile at this stage?

Would you be bothered if a colleague (peer or subordinate) went on vacation to the Caribbean for Thanksgiving, then decided to stay there and work remotely while his wife continued to vacation for another 2 weeks? 24, thankful to have my bachelors and masters, little debt...1st gen & trying to build my nest egg. However, I just feel so directionless/empty right now, in some ways. My wife and I just had our second child, and we have also been dealing with her cervical cancer diagnosis. It has been a stressful year, to say the least.
