Being an experience hire has nothing to do with whether or not a firm will clear you. Rather, it’s a cache-22 of you need the clearance to get the position, but to get the clearance you need the position.
I had a senior associate friend (now manager) refer me, who is absolutely amazing at what he does, that everyone wants to work with him. He emailed his recommendation directly to the partner, vouched for me, and I also had two certifications to back me up.
I got put on nonclearance jobs until it came through. Came in as experienced hire.
Aka yes it can happen but you need HighUp or Exceptional contacts.
Husband and I are client facing cleared professionals 15+ years in. After a certain point, there’s really no such thing as an uncleared experienced hire into a cleared role. The experience needs to be from cleared work. I’m sure there are exceptions, but they shrink as you get further along in your career.
Yes you will mind sitting in a scif all day. There is no work from home. It’s a glorified sensory deprivation tank. Depending on the client you may have to bubble wrap your phones and leave it in a lock box at front of building, turn it off 5 miles before arriving, or leave it in the car. Those are a huge adjustment for people who’ve had flexible jobs.
Ok 🤡..
Yes
BAH1, BGC1 is not incorrect on the information he delivered. SCIF is typically associated with the IC not just any cleared area. There are plenty of avenues to get a clearance while still working your normal job or your form having you in the pipeline while you are still working your normal project. BGC1 didn’t give the full list of ways to get cleared just a few. Now for the OP, getting a clearance doesn’t mean you have to sit in a SCIF. You could have secret and not have as many restrictions on your life like you would in a SCIF or vault.

Look for positions that will accept interim cleared personnel
