Wanted to highlight Prudential Financial’s hiring practices. They rescinded my offer once I attempted to negotiate the salary. The official reason given was that I didn’t “sound excited enough”.
They then admittedly gave the offer to someone who was less qualified. There were other red flags throughout the job offer process that the HR team should overall be ashamed of.

Just be the best and show you are the best; then sector doesn't matter.
You might want to spend this year on sustained networking. Be in touch with your professional contacts and talk about your wish to branch out. A lot of times good things will come via word of mouth, someone knows someone who will know of a gig for you. You might also want to be circulating at industry events, making some new contacts along the way.

Transitioning after nearly two decades is a big move! One tip: highlight your adaptability. There’s a stereotype that DoD contractors only know one way of doing things. If you can showcase projects where you had to pivot quickly or work in 'Agile-ish' environments, it’ll ease their minds.
Thank you! I've been through two Agile integrations with being a DOD Ctr. One of my main highlights is that just because I've worked with the DOD for 18 years, I've worked in many environments such as working in Logistics/Hazmat and then moved to working for the Armed Forces DNA Intensification Laboratory working with scientist, then moved to working with engineers in Navy ship maintenance, and so on. Adaptability is my "middle name" lol
