For those who are able to workout, what is your schedule? I’m gaining pound after pound and I know where there’s a will there’s a way but I genuinely can’t figure out how to get enough sleep, work and workout AND cook and eat healthy. Any tips?

I sign up for 6:00 am Pilates classes that have a $20 cancellation fee if you no show or cancel within 10hrs of the start time of the class. I’m cheap enough that the monetary penalty of not going on top of my monthly membership fee is enough of an incentive for me to show up even when I’d rather sleep.

This is impressive, I get resentful when I book a class like this and specifically refuse to go later in defiance 😂 eventually I gave up on booking the classes after a few times hahah. I started simple by going on nice walks every day and from there I slowly developed the energy to start going to the gym. Now I look forward to it most days.

I get up early and work out between 6:30-7:00 am at home. I use the FitOn app - it’s free and they have a ton of workouts for all ability levels. I do mostly strength training because I have PCOS and it helps balance my hormones. For my food intake, I prioritize protein and fiber and limit carbs as much as possible (without being super restrictive because life is too short lol).

Cooking doesn’t have to be super complicated - a lot of nights I some sort of meat and some sort of veggie, sometimes rice or potato too. I meal prep my lunches on Sundays and, again, just try to limit the carbs and prioritize protein. We do a lot of the Hungry Girl 30 minute meals, and I find lunches on social media (like this week I made the viral TikTok bowls with sweet potato, ground beef, cottage cheese, avocado, and hot honey, which where surprisingly good).

I think what really made the biggest difference, though, is the change I made to my mindset. I realized I couldn’t hate myself into losing weight and I re-framed it to stop focusing on losing weight and start thinking of it as, “My body and brain deserve to be taken care of.” I hope some of all that helps!

To get started, consider a personal trainer. They can help you craft an efficient workout plan, which likely will involve weightlifting. You only need to meet 2x week for 60 minutes, and just walk or do other chill workouts on the other days. After 8-12 weeks, you can likely do most workouts by yourself.

The goal is to do just enough to lose about 1 lb a week, and then to maintain your weight. Nothing drastic or dramatic.

You may need to meet with several trainers before you pick one. Personal referrals from people you know and trust are best.

I focus on short, high intensity workouts, and mostly do them when I have random breaks while WFH

I got a dog that I have to walk 4 times a day😂 the weight melted off and my mental health is much better

I workout at 6am most days, but weight gain is 80% eating. Pay attention to calories in and portion control.

For days I’m underwater and don’t have time to workout or it’s too much of a sacrifice to sleep, I walk to work both ways (a little under 3 miles total) and I have a walking pad for WFH days.

I bought a Pilates reformer through Your Reformer. It’s been a game changer for me. YR has an app with workout ranging 20-50 minutes so I fit in what I can before heading into the office or while working from home. I also having a walking pad and standing desk and try to maximize use of that on WFH days.

Edited to add that YR has a rental option if you don’t want to buy which is significantly less than a monthly membership.

I send myself a calendar invite on my outlook and block time for work out during the day. It’s like 30-40 mins and counts as a break.

I work from home 2-3x a week so it’s possible

Morning workouts every day! Meal prep on Sundays enough for at least 4 lunches, and giving flexibility to pick up or go to lunch one day. I’m pregnant rn and am on exercise restrictions, and damn, I miss it.

Unfortunately it’s 5:30am or nothing for me during the week 😭 brutal but you absolutely do get used to it. And I love that’s it’s done early in the day

So other than money (which is obviously very important) what’s the incentive to make partner? Is it crazy that I just want to do my work and go home to my amazing family without the added pressure of running a business and managing others? I’m only a third year (in a new practice area) so maybe the thought of being competent enough to ever be a partner just seems unrealistic. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’m working at a small firm that is more like a one-stop shop. We’ve had instances where a client of ours have asked for a deliverable that is outside of our expertise and that we need specialists for. However, the relationship partner (is that what they’re called) for some reason wants everything to go through them rather than having the specialists directly engage with the client. Is there some legal/ethical reason for this? Or is this just an act to protect their turf?

I accepted a job offer in April to start a few months from now, post clerkship. All conflicts/background check went smoothly etc. Since accepting my offer, the firm has increased their 1st year pay across the board to be higher than my offer was (which was, at the time, what 2nd yeas got). When should I reach out to the recruitment attorney leading up to my start date? Or should I? (Haven't spoken since May) Should I bring up the salary or just assume its higher?

Hey guys… I’m a case worker in child safety and I’m someone who loves being outdoors/dies at a desk all day. I’m hoping to organise that at least once a week I can go to a cafe and catch up on all my case notes that need to go into the system.
So far the only reason I’ve been told no is that “if you do then everyone will want to and then no one will be in the office” … how can I convince them that I work better out of the office and get this freedom & mental break for myself?

Hello Folks,
Can you pls advise on which company to go for.
R-Systems : They are providing WFH + clarity on the project and team for which I’ll be working upon.
CTS : No clarity as of now, only thing I am aware is that I’m a part of full stack community.
HCL : Some clarity on the project but less package than other two.
R-Systems and CTS are giving same CTC.
YOE ~8
Skill set : . Net full stack + Angular + Azure

Thanks
