Good afternoon everyone! I am planning to go to Madrid,Spain for the first time in early October. I would appreciate any recommendations and pieces of advice about this city.
I know that there are historical cities near Madrid - Toledo and Segovia. I would like to visit one of them, but I don't know which one to choose (it seems like Toledo looks cooler, but Segovia has more interesting things to do). I would be grateful for your opinion on which one is best and what you recommend to do there🙏

So hard to say without knowing your interests and budget, but tbh I LOVE Madrid. In general, they party late and things don't open up till like 11am. Recommend having breakfast at Billy Brunch (if you go to Barcelona as well, there's a location there that i like even better). You probably want to stay close to the Plaza Mayor, where you can walk to Gran Via and catch the subway to the Palace and other sites.

The Hammam Al Andalus is a great experience, especially if you're going with a partner. The Bernabeu is unfortunately still undergoing renovations but you should still check it out. Real Madrid has 3 games in October, I'd go to one, but sports might not be your thing.

There are a fair number of homeless people around, as well as graffiti. Not like Los Angeles-level, but just be aware. But enjoy, it's a fun city.

Thank you so much for your detailed response🙏.
I checked Billy Brunch place on Google Maps and it looks wonderful, also a very high rating. Would definitely go there😋.
The Hammam seems nice, but since I am gonna be backpacking alone,I would skip it.
One of the main reasons why I want to go to Madrid is actually Real Madrid. And I saw they have on schedule a game against Villarreal, so definitely would try to see it (The Bernabeu must be ready at this time, right?)
And I have never heard or read about the homeless in Madrid, so it's a surprise. Thanks for telling.

I vote for Toledo! I lived there when I was studying abroad and it was such a great time.

Wow, didn’t expect to get a reply from someone who lived there! If it's not a secret, what university did you attend and what did you study?

Interesting. Let’s see if the uptick In cases continues to drive an uptick in hospitalizations and then in fatalities. Depends on how many of the cases are incidental or in very young people not prone to severe cases. But either way, look at the hospital capacity utilization figures! This is the untold story. Were we bending the curve to avoid unnecessary deaths due to overcrowded hospitals, or were we bending the curve to buy time for treatments and vaccine, or just to slow fatalities?
