This looks like it will be a very interesting event!
As I work with members of marginalized and disabled communities, can you share what accessibility tools and features have been made available to members with mobility, vision, and or hearing impairments?
I am always interested in discussing how such events can be made more accessible and inclusive.
Hello LaToya! Here are all of the available accessibility features of FutureWorks:
- ASL interpreters will be onsite for in-person attendees at FutureWorks Stage, WonderWorks Theater, and WonderWorks Roundtable.
- ASL interpreters will also be available for the live broadcasts from both stages.
- English live captioning will be available at the FutureWorks Stage and WonderWorks Theater, with a closed caption link in English for in-person attendees.
- Our digital platform and website follow the WCAG 2.1, AA standards, and the venue meets all local accessibility requirements.
- Water bowls and relief areas will be available for service animals.
- We’ve allocated substantial time between sessions to allow attendees to move between spaces.
- Reduced sensory spaces will be available for attendees or speakers needing a break from stimulation.
- All activities will offer inclusive opportunities.
- An on-site contact will be available for any questions or additional services during the event.
Sooo excited!
Looking forward to connecting with like-minded professionals, interested in creating greater opportunities for members of marginalized and disabled communities seeking employment in creative, business, and tech industries.
Those are great additions! Would love to chat more about features for virtual attendees with assistive technology challenges.
