Any advice for someone looking to transition into a full HR Generalist role from Recruiting. I’m currently a Campus Recruiter with about 5 years of HR experience (Coordinator- Higher Ed). Wife is 35 weeks pregnant and recently tested positive for Covid. Symptoms are mild to moderate. Doctor’s say no impact to baby if symptoms continue to remain under control. Holiday Season - at my former company, around this time of year I would have already gotten a ton of gift baskets etc. - not something I would ever take home but open up for the team and leave out. Started somewhere new last November, have dealt with multiple firms in various regions of the last year, many of which have billed several $100ks, have yet to receive anything. I feel like working from home has been the death of my dating life. I used to at least go on 4 dates a month, and I was casually seeing a guy for a while. Post covid, I love my work-life balance but I'm never out. I can't meet people sitting at my desk, and I have no local coworkers to pull me out of the house for happy hour.

Last year when Covid broke, I received a couple of interview calls but ignored them as I felt the organization kept me at work when other companies cut short their HR staff so I should be with them even if with no appraisal. But now, I was living in the fool's paradise when I am told to leave with no job offers in hand, car and home loan, dependent parents, expecting jobless spouse with a 3-year old kid.
