Got flagged for noncompliance with a process that was never clearly defined. I've asked for guidance multiple times and didn't get clear answers... It made me wonder how often candidates walk into roles were expectations weren't fully communicated during hiring. Recruiters aren't always apart of the day2day of the job, so there's sometimes a gap between what's described and what actually happens. How do you close the gap during the hiring process? How can you set realistic expectations?

One way to that has helped me to close the gap during hiring is to ask specific questions about expectations, success metrics, and what ‘good performance’ looks like in the role.

But can those answers be unreal or biased sometimes?

What can I do here?

What have I misunderstood here in this process!

Please respond to me

In the hiring process ask lots of questions. But you don’t know what you don’t know, so that’s on them for not training you or defining it.
Document all the questions you ask and detailed responses you receive. Names, dates, specific details, etc. Since it’s a compliance thing you need to CYA.
A lot of times being called out in noncompliance is a way they identify risks for not maintaining regulatory standards. You’re not really in trouble unless it results in a major loss for the company or you are a repeat offender. That’s my experience at least.

Are you saying Ive done something wrong?

Gaps happen because expectations are often not clearly defined by the actual team doing the work.To close the gap during hiring:
• Ask for real examples of mistakes and accountability
• Ask who decides success in the first 90 days
• Ask how processes are documented and trained

Its a big issue with data integrity as well, hard to justify actions at times
