How would you recommend moving from recruiting into a learning and development role?

Most of us probably work in HR because we love this job. But what about working in HR do you hate the most?

I got laid off from my job as an account manager at a SAAS company. I’ve been applying non stop for similar jobs in saas for the past 2 months and I’m not having a lot of success with interviews. Either not getting them or not getting an offer because they go with a candidate with more experience (I have 1 year experience). Any advice for companies to apply to or with getting an offer despite not having as many years experience as others?

Any advice for someone looking to transition into a full HR Generalist role from Recruiting. I’m currently a Campus Recruiter with about 5 years of HR experience (Coordinator- Higher Ed). I received my PHR certification in September 2020 and sitting for my SHRM-CP in two weeks. I’m having a hard time transitioning into a full Generalist position.

Is there any resources someone can point me to about the potential legal issues and more information from an HR perspective about contingent employees (temps, contract workers, part-time workers) versus normal FTE’s?

How do you work 2 remote jobs? I’ve seen many posts about doing this and finding success. I am interviewing for a remote basic inside sales rep but also have an actual AE job where I’d be in office two days a week. What are some tips and tricks here? Also, how do you deal with LinkedIn having 2 jobs?

I’ve been in my current position (Bookkeeper) for 4 years now. I’m highly interested in taking the PHR, and I’m wondering if I would qualify for the 4 year HR professional job requirement to be eligible to test for the certificate. I work for a small business, therefore I do all the on boarding paperwork/payroll. Any advice is appreciated.

How do you all balance being professional and emotionally present for your staff? Or do you even show up for folks emotionally as an HR professional?

Just started as an AE and I am responsible for the prospecting, running meetings, and closing the deal. Ive been doing like 50/calls per day with about 40 emails per day. I either keep getting rejection emails, VM’s or not interested over the phone. Can someone give me advice how to to get more people attend my initial meetings? Thats one of the big things I am measured on. Thanks!

I was very successful as an internaional sales exec at a startup for 15 years before we were bought by a large publicly traded company. The culture shift was dramatic, as was the way that I was expected to work. I was laid off a tortuous 3 years after the buyout.

While I was in some ways relieved (put me out of my misery!) I spiralled pretty hard and after a while started working PT jobs, gig type stuff, etc. while I figured things out, and healed from burnout.

I’ve worked in sales for 12 years (8 years retail sales and management, 4 years inside tech sales and management). I’m feeling the burn and looking for something else in the tech field. I’m making $140k. I have a college degree but no marketing, engineering, or product experience. What other departments/jobs could I jump to and still keep close to my OTE? I’m pretty good at Salesforce and have thought about a SFDC admin type role, but that’s all I’ve thought of so far.

I’m mid-level in my HR career at my current company and an upcoming Master’s graduate. Studying for my SHRM-CP too. How did you make the transition to that next level? What skills do you need, or is it really just based on YOE (I am the youngest compared to my teammates, many who have 10+ YOE)? I feel like career pathing is not very clear at my company. So, a recruiter sent me a HackerRank assessment and I went to complete it and it was so easy? Is this a red flag or a shit test or something? Like there was a number sequence: “1234567”, and it corresponded to a word: “Surgeon”. Then it was the word: “Snore”, which corresponded to “36425”. and then I had to figure out the number that corresponded to: “Rogue”. It just seemed too easy, why even have it besides creating another barrier to a possible offer? Should I tread carefully here?

I am tasked with tackling the issue of Single Points of Failure (SPOFs) at my org. I had managers complete a census to identify individuals who are SPOFs but I am struggling with next part. I think I want to have them prioritize which to focus training on, and find a way to quantify how many hours approx needed for training. Anyone have a good strategies or resources that can help me in designing my program? I should add this is in the tech field.

Calling all the folks in the SaaS selling space. I genuinely want to know what makes having SaaS selling industry experience so unique? Here’s a little background: I was negatively impacted during the pandemic when working at a hospitality SaaS company as a CSM. Now I’m trying to work my way back into the SaaS space as either a sales professional or CSM but I feel like my six years of selling experience is being discounted because it wasn’t in the SaaS industry.

Switch to Strategy?
L7 Consulting, Chicago, $152k, ~4 YoE total. MD in Strategy has offered to sponsor me to move over as Manager. I’ve been told by SMD in Consulting (who recruited me) that I should be expecting L6 SM in the next year, year and a half, and likely won’t get promoted as fast in Strategy. Would welcome advice on how to think about transfer / negotiating compensation if I stay in Consulting. TIA!

In NYS, you need to complete two college courses to get an extension certificate for Coordinating Work-Based Learning Programs, does your state have similar requirements? I’m teaching those courses this summer and my colleagues and I are grappling with the importance of the work versus the level of involvement to make it “good” work. 👏🏼

Is 5 YOE considered entry level or associate? When I apply to associate level jobs I get nothing but rejections. And all the entry level jobs call for new grads or people with under 3 YOE.

I’m so confused. How do recruiters look at someone with 5 YOE? What level is that considered?
