How much would my tech stack and language be a factor in getting selected in faang or good product based companies?
I'm asking from getting my resume selected to getting an offer.
I read everywhere that only DSA and system design is needed, but I'm still concious about my tech stack.

Ordered a Black Car recently and they sent me a Tesla Model Y 🤢
Please stop laughing at this.
Last 8 years, yeah
Sounds like an economic reality to keep an adequate supply of drivers. I haven’t had any issues with Lyft other than it’s difficult to add a tip a few hours after the fact, for example post-airport rides.
I had one pick me up recently that smelled so putrid that I didn't even want to get in. I rolled the window down and generally held my breath except for the moments I had to breathe out of my mouth.

I used it a few times this year and it has been good, no issues with me and driver was accommodating to my request(s). What’s the issue you notice?

Oops my bad, I just checked my past rides but I usually don’t go for the cheapest. I tend to select at least the second one above, the ‘preferred’ or ‘comfort’. For $5-7 more, all my rides have been good and accommodating, great service.
I will not ride a car with horrible smell and not clean too, lol no thank you. Maybe you should look into upgrading your options, sounds like standard is a no-go if you are getting these types of drivers now.

I always go for the upgraded rides. Rather spend a few more $$$ than experience what I have in the past with the standard rides 😵💫
If I’m traveling with my wife, minimum is the step or two above the bottom. Or if I’m traveling to work. Been in too many lowest level cars that smell like smoke and get all over me. Unprofessional when going to a client office.
Made the mistake of ordering UberX in Orlando because it was the closest/quickest option. The car was dated and just kind of a sh*tty compact car. As I was getting out, the dome light revealed a German cockroach 🪳 running across the back seat where I had just been sitting. I was totally disgusted and will never ride UberX again. 🪳 🪳 🪳 🚗 🤮

no, i haven’t noticed any change in service over the years. just overly inflated prices.
Decline in Lyft’s software quality for sure. I had the credit card company handle the mess for me when Lyft did nothing w my complaint.
Basically, the original location I requested appeared as a completely different address on the driver’s phone (driver’s routes made no sense) and then I got hit w 2 ride charges to be able to reach my original destination during a late night in the freezing cold.
Screw Lyft, happy to delete them and their double charging tactics. Seems other people have encountered this w airport pickups, where the driver circles around and hits the rider w a ditching charge. I’ve heard Uber provides an activation code to be shared when a rider settles into the car, maybe that’ll be less egregious than Lyft’s ghetto charge tactics.

Former uber/lyft driver turned consultant here. The biggest issue is that uber/lyft have been increasing the amount they take from drivers i.e. a ride that cost you $15, may mean the driver getting btn $6-$8. The issue here is alot of customers would come in expecting $15 worth of service yet the driver is only willing to offer $7 worth of service. Also, with these companies taking over 50% of the cut, drivers can't always afford to make payments on newer cars while making a profit.
No. My Uber drivers are fine.

I have never used an Uber/Lyft or Airbnb and don’t see the point.

I feel like Lyft drivers generally have nicer/newer cars but Lyft’s prices are CRAZY high now. They used to be $2-3 more expensive than Uber in my city but now they’re not even comparable…

I moved to an area a couple years ago where this service is non-existent. Genuinely curious to hear these stories. What changed?
Yes! In NYC a lot of dirty unkept cars, sometimes worse than a cab. In Philly, the Uber’s door handle was falling off, car was a mess. Rarely they get out to help with luggage, I guess I’m used to that with nyc cabs.
Used Uber in Manhattan last June and a yellow cab pulled up.
Oh no people who trying to make some extra money cars aren’t boogie enough for you. The cost of the rides should cost more even with Uber X.

I think it depends on your location
Uber started screwing the drivers. Ask how much they used to make if they’ve been doing it a while.
