Hi Fishes,
Does Deloitte USI have any cool down period, if you apply and do not get any response from the company? I had previously applied in a role, but didn't hear back from them. So, I'm planning to try to apply via referral this time and I'm wondering if I should use the same e-mail ID or a different one! Deloitte USI

God, I wish! I’ve worked in all sorts of environments. Swinging hammers is hard on the body, and you only get one good fall from a ladder at over 40 before you end up forced behind a desk. But corporate - that’s hard on the soul. I struggle to find meaning in it and in the keeping up of appearances, and trying to objectively prove the value of my subjective work each year… Maybe some day I’ll have the courage to make a move!
No but have been considering it for while! Following…
I'm getting close to my FIRE number and considered the coast approach but needed to stay industry relevant from a few board positions I have. My reality is that I'm not sure how I'll get past the '1 more year' syndrome as I have some very cool, heavy impact projects but pretty much despise most of my partners.
Yes, this is the plan and I’m about 2 years away. I’m in grad school (online) to qualify myself for this new field. Plan is to just cover my expenses with my new income, let my portfolio sit for the next 20 years or so and then full retire.
I'm 46 and won't coast FIRE until I'm 50. Wife and I want to max out our 401K and HSAs until then.
However, I can't imagine doing this in consulting for another 4 years. I may step into a cush industry job for 4 years as long as I can still max out my retirement. Our monthly expenses are low. Then at 50, I'll do something else with my life - I may take a gap year with the wife . Who knows.
I’m early 40s with 2 little ones. I’d love to take a step back for a bit and enjoy the time w them while they’re so young and before they go to school…or even take break for few years and then get back to work when they’re in school. It seems very difficult to do so at a certain point in your career so haven’t made the move yet. Anyone else do this?
