Very interesting idea.... using e-commerce to sell organic products directly to consumers.
The complete opposite of factory farming.
I’d imagine the meat packing would be outsourced. Can’t imagine dealing with that aspect of it given how messy and regulated food safety is.

Farming may be one of the few industries that is more challenging than consulting.
My in-laws, one of which is a former Exxon exec, retired into farming and they work harder than anyone I’ve ever met on the job.
But the work is different. It's really hard to compare consulting to farming. Both have long hours where one is very physical and the other VERY sedentary. While farming may be more physically challenging, a lot of people find physical labor, where you can see what you have created in front of your eyes, more fulfilling.
I come from an agricultural family. I sometimes dream about going back to it. It is very hard work though

My wife and I have similar thoughts ... thinking small scale and growing. A lot of risk diving head first.

It’s funny I grew up on a farm and I’m in consulting now...miss those days.
My dad is selling a 250 acres flesh cut flower farm in NJ for $1.5 million (business and land) if anybody is interested.
I grew up on a small farm. It is an incredible amount of work. There is also an incredible amount to learn if you’ve never raised or grown a specific animal or crop.
With that being said I’ve often contemplated buying land and starting a hobby farm. Not transition full time like described here, though I can understand that as well. There is simply something deeply filling about doing work that is tangible that I miss.
So I’m not the only one considering this lately, eh? Need to do a lot more research, planning, etc, but this sounds so rewarding despite how tough the work would be.
yes!
