What is a good salary for a director in NY?
Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

No. I have accepted less pay for a job I was confident would make me happier (less stress, and a project I wanted to be on). However, salary for me comes before the potential for more salary down the road. Only one of those is guaranteed.
Yes. I hated it in the moment feeling underpaid; however, it did give me opportunities I never would have had otherwise and some of my best work memories and impact and I don’t regret it. I’ve done it twice now. I’m 42 and will probably not do it again at this point.
Nope! Was literally a question in my recent interview as to why I haven’t gone the way of management. My response to them was I would have to take a pay cut to go that route and that’s not something I’m willing to do.
Was told my interview went well and the team liked me. We shall know more later this week.
Unfortunately I did, since I trusted what I was told in the interview. I left in less than 2 years, as there was also other toxicity in that play. You’d think a large fortune 50 company with a decent reputation you’d be able to have some faith in their word. Turns out you really don’t anything about a company until you’re a part of it.

I’ve thought about it, but ultimately did not accept
I haven't but I would. Growth is really something important to me so I would be willing to make less if that meant there's better growth paths and I can make more in the future.
Yes once.
I'm 44 and currently debating it. Excellent potential for growth at a maturing late stage startup compared to current, but from initial discussions it appears salary will be lateral at best.
Yes
I haven’t but I would for the right opportunity
