Current Situation - due to bgv not completing as one of my company as per CTS is black listed so they changed my hiring from permanent to contractual role.

Hi all, recently in touch by Spotify recruiter for a Sec Engineer position for remote EU and was told that range was 60-80 out of base salary and equity. Had 2 years of security experience out of my 4 years. Was also told that there is no bonus scheme or no sign in bonus 😕 Not sure how I feel about this tbh.

Wanted to highlight Prudential Financial’s hiring practices. They rescinded my offer once I attempted to negotiate the salary. The official reason given was that I didn’t “sound excited enough”.
They then admittedly gave the offer to someone who was less qualified. There were other red flags throughout the job offer process that the HR team should overall be ashamed of.

For any given role there is always the possibility that the HM already has an internal candidate in mind before even posting the role, and I have seen job postings with 100+ candidates within hours of being posted. There is a strong likelihood that there are several strong candidates in the bunch, so when coming in near the end of the timeline, you are guaranteed to be wasting your time applying unless you have a very strong reference.
It's a numbers game unfortunately, and time is the enemy. I still apply to the 100+ applicant roles, but I have no expectations when doing so. Almost 7 months of doing so hasn't netted but 4 interviews.
I interviewed at a company and didn't get it. The manager called me 6 weeks later to tell me that I did an outstanding job and I would have been the 1st choice if the contractor that was there for 3 years was not there. It was his job to refuse. If he did, I would have been their choice.
I still haven't found a good job but i give him updates on my crazy path forward. I will say he didn't have to give me that call and that call is something i go back to when i feel down.

I just had a great call with a recruiter fkr a role that is a near perfect fit, and as it turns out, they have a candidate in the final interview stages, and the recruiter was just making sure she hadn't missed any one.
I'll find out later this week if they are willing to consider a second candidate, and I sure hope that they do. It goes to show that even in the late stages of interviews a company could still be shopping candidates.
