It usually seems like people take titles too seriously, when what really matters would be the responsibilities and the compensation. When I pay my rent the landlord doesn't care about my title, just whether the check clears.

And job titles vary across different companies. I have noticed that what might be one title at one hospital, is a completely different title at another. Titles really do seem to matter at some places though.
