Have you ever seen a job posting stay open for months and wondered if that’s a red flag? I interviewed for a role about a month ago, and the position has been open for about 4-5 months now. It makes me wonder what’s going on behind the scenes. Is the hiring manager just having a hard time making a decision, or does it say something about the team or the role itself? Curious if others have experienced this. Did it turn out to be a normal hiring delay, or was it a sign the job had bigger issues?

I've seen more of this in the past year than ever before. My assumption is always that it's a ghost job. The fact you actually interviewed means the one you applied to might be the rare exception where the HM is just taking their sweet, sweet time in making a decision.

You make a good point though. It probably isn’t a pure ghost job since there was an actual interview process.

It's common, it normal. There's a ton happening behind the scenes. Many reasons including, hire freeze, others getting let go or repositioned within the company, budget analyzing, etc. Reach out to the company and figure out what's going on. Cause there's also a chance that someone forgot to reach out to u

Haha that's true. There really can be a lot happening behind the scenes that candidates never see. And you’re right, sometimes it’s not that deep. Could just be a delay or someone dropping the ball.

My first thought is that it's a ghost job. Some companies just post them because they think it looks good to appear to be hiring, even if they're not. It's also possible that things are somehow delayed. A lot of organizations have put plans on hold because of the chaotic economy, so it's conceivable they're slow walking everything.

That’s kind of my first thought too. Ghost postings seem way more common lately. But the slow-walking explanation also feels realistic with how uncertain things are. Either way, it’s tough not to overthink it when we are the one waiting.

I think it’s pretty common. Wouldn’t read into it too much.

Who knows. Too much to speculate.

I think that its a sign that the management at this company cannot get their act together and agree on who to hire.

We're qualified for those jobs, don't ever doubt yourself. It's the job market now- low hire low fire. They terminated 92,000 jobs last month but says thousands of jobs were added. The math not mathing. Just keep applying hopefully something gives. Meanwhile unwind & enjoy your weekend everyone. Let's recoup & pick up laptops/tablet on Monday.

Started my grad job in consulting and keen on getting a credit card - any advice?

First year associate and I may barely hit 1500 this year. Requirement is 2000, though i know first and some second years at my firm don’t hit it.

I am a in a small specialist group who has 2 partners, and they both give me work. One of them said to not worry about my hours (though they do not know how low of a number i’m projected for). Haven’t asked the other.

Should I be concerned?

I applied to a job at KPMG and did the first two rounds of interviews, general interview, then case study and competency. Never before have I had such a positive feedback at the end of an interview of the 2nd, both said really like me, I did well etc.
It's now been 3 weeks since the interview and I still haven't heard back from the team other than the odd HR email saying they are following up with them. Is there something going on internally, I.e hiring freeze in the London office atm?
