Can someone explain what makes The Island by Three so great?

Hi car 🐟

Been looking into 2019 Infiniti QX50, Lincoln MKC, Mazda CX-5, Chevy Equinox, and other similar compact to mid size SUVs but having hard time making the decision.

What are some affordable SUVs that i can buy with ~$25k budget? Hopefully it's post 2019 model and has good fuel economy and reliability (low maintenance cost). I'm less concerned on the mileage but wanting good horsepower (~250hp). Any suggestions? Thanks for your insights.

Question for funds folks, since no one is around to answer any questions and I can't seem to find this answer anywhere. Should I complain to a firm's HR if the interviewers laughed at my answer during an interview? Maybe it sounded scripted but it was still heartfelt and genuine: my immigration story and how that made me appreciate the rule of law. I said it soo many times during OCI's that maybe it eventually sounded robotic, but for the interviewers to laugh and one to say sarcastically "nice elevator pitch", I thought was rude. Thoughts?

PSA - We are headed into a self-imposed economic slow down. Now is not the time to lateral but if you do, I would make sure you are at a recession-proof practice or firm. The top law firms will be okay (they always are) but if you are part of a larger group of associates with no work, you are likely to be axed. Latham did it in the 2008 and 2011 and it will happen again. If you are an associate or really anyone but a rainmaker, you are expendable.

I’m have a new theory about why juniors always feel like idiots and wanted to see if anyone else thinks this makes sense. I’m a third year, and am the most junior person all of my teams (generally me, a senior or two, and a partner or two), and I always feel like I’m messing something up. Is this just because I never get to work with other juniors and don’t see the mistakes they make, and that it’s relatively normal? And FWIW I went to HYS and I’ve had a clerkship so it’s not like I’m not smart

Saw an article about the chilling effect that the Big Law salary raises are having on in house hiring since associates cannot bear to take the pay cut. Do we believe this? Of course if an in house role offers less than a first year salary it’s a tough pill to swallow, but what if the role offers in the mid-200s for a substantially better WLB? Thoughts??

This job is a lot better if you don't care about the bonus and hours requirement. I can pretty easily bill 1700 hours annually and my firm so far hasn't cared in the slightest. Worrying about hitting 2000 hours for the bonus used stress me out so much, and I just don't think it's worth it. Base salaries are ridiculous and way more than enough to finance my lifestyle.
