Thank you! Will look into those.
Even as a PM myself with 6 years experience I was having basically zero luck with applying online or via LinkedIn. It’s mostly been headhunted or messages via LI. Make sure your profile updated with product keywords, your skills are added and recommended by others, and your job search settings are all up to date.
Also start the old fashioned way with networking with other PMs and asking for referrals, as referrals are the best bet.
But agreed that you should also apply to product adjacent roles to maybe get your foot in the door that way.
Much easier to get interviews at your level than at mine – principal and director roles. I landed at a good place now but it definitely was not easy. At my company there were 10 product manager headcount for every Director role.
Depending on the parts of the product you worked on, and the processes you project managed, look into roles that own certain pieces of the product management scope and grow from there. Example: program manager for product launches. Or technical program manager to manage the technical development and strategy. May be easier to get a project or program role with a focus on a certain aspect of product management and then moving into product fully after getting in the door.
