Hello, fellow recruiters! How do you personally cope with being blamed for things you don’t control, like hiring freezes or shifting priorities? It’s tough staying empathetic with candidates while also being realistic about what you can’t fix.

Eh. I just chalk it up as the cost of being in this role. Everyone is always looking for someone to blame or vent their frustrations to. If it's my turn, it's my turn.

Are you talking about when candidates get upset about this stuff? Unfortunately, all you can do is be honest and explain the situation. Some candidates will understand and some will decide to take their bad luck out on you.

Sympathize with the candidates. Don’t just break the news but tell them it sucks and you were excited for them to keep moving forward.
At the end of the day it’s business. You don’t need to justify why others do things that result in a freeze or shifting priorities - but you’re allowed to say I don’t know and recognize it sucks. Tell them you have them short listed for anything else that comes up and offer to provide a resume review for another job or introduce them to another recruiter who might be working on another job at your company.

This is the way. The candidate experience is rough to put it mildly. Sometimes, all they really need is for just one person, even if it's us, to acknowledge the suck.

As long as we don't throw anyone at our own companies under the bus and just stick to brief facts about the decision, we're OK.

I'm big on communication. I look to be as transparent as possible without giving up the farm or any confidential information.
I set expectations and document so I can refer back in future conversations.
Of course there's more to it but this is high level

I was promised that my salary will increase and as far as I know Partner has conveyed this request to the HR, but I still have not got any updates , so is it possible that , HR can deny the request, or they ar bound to do so ?. Who decides our CTC and increment ?

Hello!
Would anyone from the tech or design industry be able to give some advice in understanding if the compensation I would be getting seems less or at a good level as I am starting to a job in a new city. Here are the details:

Offering - £65K
Role: Senior Product Designer
Organization: mid-sized in software development

I am H1B and I’ve started my GC process. my husband is also on H1B but won’t get his GC sponsored until his next job. What happens if he has started the GC process but by then his H1B had run out? Can he still work while it’s pending with an application for EAD? Can he work as H4 under my H1B till I get my GC issued?
