I was just offered a CUNY role. The title is Higher Education Assistant. According to Glassdoor, the average annual pay for that role is $83,418. However, I was offered $62,500. I requested for the minimum annual salary to be 75k. Does anyone have experience navigating the CUNY system and their pay?

I'm with you on this! Before I became the store manager, I had a manager that was very much like this, and it made all the difference. I try to channel her demeaner, but she just genuinely cared so much about the company and the people working for her. We're lucky to get to experience that even once in our working lives if you ask me.

You’re right. I feel lucky that I had a good manager. I often hear stories from people about bad managers and how they get fed up with the company.
Awh that is so tender! I hope she knows how much of a difference she made for you. I definitely aspire to be like this as much as I can but it's definitely hard when you feel your own supervisor breathing down your back. But you're so right, leadership makes all the difference

Totally. They do make a difference. I still keep in touch with her and tell her that I admire her
These people are such a godsend. I had a manager exactly like this at my last job and she made work go by so much quicker. Being able to laugh and joke around with your manager in between insane customer phone calls is such a blessing.

I agree. They understand how much pressure you’re under and are happy to help. It definitely makes the job easier.

Good managers can make a bad company/job tolerable, even enjoyable. And bad managers can make even the best job unbearable.
I have heard employees defend some of the worst retail companies in America, and when you dig into why, it's because they have an awesome manager.
And people don't quit jobs, they quit managers.

You are absoutely right. All of my past jobs that I have quit were because of the bad managers. They make the whole environment toxic.
Managers like that are rare gems — it’s wild how one good leader can make work feel like a second home.
Yes! A great manager makes all the difference. It’s rare to find someone who genuinely values their team and creates a positive environment. Sounds like your old manager was a gem—those kinds of people definitely deserve all the recognition!
