I've seen 20% jumps or even more. In this market, there is nothing wrong with asking for that much. 5% is like a merit increase, but a move into a higher (not lateral) position can demand more.
I got a 20% raise for an internal promotion. I think that was on the higher end of the pay grade range since I had more experience.
I once received a 30% increase for a promotion!
I was recently moved to an internal position and was given a16% increase and was told that it’s was the highest ever seen by HR.. reading the comments I feel slighted
I received 21% for a promotion this year
5-7% is typical for internal moves at my company. I’ve heard about higher but no solid proof of that.
What about for a lateral position (same pay grade) that requires more technical skill?
