Hey all, hope everyone is having a great weekend! Question about job applications at Microsoft. For personal reasons this is my dream company to work at so I won’t be giving up anytime soon! I have applied to multiple roles over the last couple of years with multiple referrals for each role. Is this a red flag? Did the system flag all of my future applications because of the total # of applications I submitted?Or should I keep applying to the roles i qualify for with hopes of something landing?
It's a highly sought-after place of employment, you are up against hundreds, if not thousands of other qualified applicants. It's more a numbers game than anything being wrong with you specifically.
Having worked there prior to IBM, I can tell you that, sure, it's great for the ego, but at the end of the day, your experience all boils down to who your manager is and what organization your in. Some make a career there, and others find greener pastures.
That’s fair! Didn’t know if I could play the numbers game or not! Not sure if that is hurting me or helping my chances! I know some companies flag people who apply to multiple roles in a short period of time!
Hey, I don't work at Microsoft so I can't say absolutely what's going on there. But have you asked any of your referrals exactly? Do you know a lot of people who work there now? Sounds like you might need to network more to get someone to actually vouch for you and give you a role. I didn't know it was so hard to land a job there, but have you ever considered doing some contract work so you could get brought on full time?
Yea that’s what I’m thinking about doing! People who referred me say they don’t really get any feedback! I will look into contract work, have a stable job now so not sure if I’d leave for contract work but I will look into to it. Thanks for the feedback!
There is nothing like max number of application. No company flags for application. Keep applying online or referral every time you see relevant position. If anything, a human eventually will notice your application.
