There are basically two camps when it comes to sneakers:
1. Sneakerheads
- Appreciates all sneakers but usually have their own personal favorites for one reason or another.
- Buys sneakers because they like them
2. Hypebeasts
- Only appreciates whatever is trending and judges a sneaker by its resale value.
- Buys what other people tell them they should like.
My advice is to find something you like, then buy as many colorways as you can. Experiment. When you see something that piques your interest, take a chance. Add it to the collection.
You could choose to follow the hype, but I wouldn't recommend it. Maybe I'm oldschool. But I like sneakers more than clout.
Some people are okay switching between brands to get whatever’s most popular that week. But I’m checks over stripes. Because that’s just what I like.
I have four styles I prefer and just keep getting new color combinations for each of them. (Jordan 1s, Jordan 3s, air max 90s, air max 1s).
You can also download the SNKRS app, and scroll through all the previous drops to see what’s sold out and what’s not. Typical, if it’s sold out, it means they’re 🔥 and you can start searches for those styles to see where else they might be available, or other colors that might be available.
Footlocker app also has some dope releases as well. Kixify is a good place to buy from people who resell to make a profit. It’s usually a little more $$ but it’s one of the easiest ways to get a sold out shoe that you can’t get anywhere else.
KITH is a big trend setter, so look them up on Instagram.
Also, just do a google search for “Jay-z or Kid Cudi courtside.” Usually whatever sneakers they’re wearing at those games are worth looking into.
Hope this helps.
Download the SNKRS app. It’s really easy to get shoes on there
I would say look into Yeezys. There are many colorways to choose from and my personal versions are the Yeezy V2 700s and the Yeezy V2 350s. If you’re more into designers look into the John Geiger 002s and 003s, I like them too
1. Find a brand and model that you like to actually wear and that you love the look of (try and find models with a wide variety of color ways)
2. Determine if there’s a real collector market for that mode (so you can set your pleasure/investment expectations up front)
3. Use SNKRS, Flight Club, and other outlets to build a list of your favorite years and color ways of that model, and make a wish list
4. Blow your hard-earned cash
