I’m a former forensic scientist that left the field several years ago. I recently received a subpoena from a case I worked and suggested to DA to have evidence re-worked by the lab or stipulation. If I am required to testify (as an expert witness), I would need to book a flight, hotel, etc. My question is this: can I ask for my requested hourly rate, travel, and hotel to be covered when speaking with DA or is that “not how this works” as the investigator put it?

Hi All, just sharing what on mind to vent it out from my system. Maybe with this I could gain some insights and inspiration.
I have been working as a data scientist since 2018 & have been the bread winner. I have neither been under a proper mentor nor with a team of peers from my field to help me out. I was alone and confused. I have never really got the chance to prove myself which makes me all the more depressed. I'm not sure what to do with my future, indecisive and low on confidence.

Have you felt like the industry (including job searching) left you contempt or jaded to the point, you’ve started turning into a nihilist?

M&A/PE associate (trying to juggle multiple deals) feeling like I don’t have time to dive deeper into issues and it being highlighted in some of my work product as I am having to turn things right away and just pushing things out - so issues I may have caught if I had a better/deeper/higher level understanding are more apparent when partners review. Truly feeling like I’m just messing up all around but trying to give myself grace. How do you know if it’s just you or a part of the process?

Considering an application deployment pipeline in Jenkins, how will you ensure no two parallel builds are triggered for deployment on the same server, but when there are two different servers, it can continue?

I am from L3 support background good at troubleshooting Env issues & managing things assigned to me. Hv been working as Devops for sometime now but majority of IaC (chef, shell scripting) task is done by a colleague and I take care of calls & Env issues
Now I am planning to apply for Senior role in my job or switch but the problem is I am unable to clear interview coz of expectation of Scripting n Infra as a code req for all Devops related vacancies, Plz suggest a way fwd?

In terms of security perspective I have used waf, secrets manager, guard duty,MFA for root and iam, shield in my AWS architecture. Apart from these what else security services I can use or any other suggestions are welcome.
