I was just offered a CUNY role. The title is Higher Education Assistant. According to Glassdoor, the average annual pay for that role is $83,418. However, I was offered $62,500. I requested for the minimum annual salary to be 75k. Does anyone have experience navigating the CUNY system and their pay?

Ranges are arbitrary. If you have a number in mind that you feel you are worth, and it is above their offer…ask for it.
Thank you!
Please negotiate. You are lucky that there’s a range. If I apply for a job with the salary posting, best believe that I’m taking that last figure. I will even try to negotiate above. Wishing you the best.
I was recently discussing value with a recruiter for a similar offering before I went through the interview process. She was actually kind and said she appreciated hearing what I thought the value of my experience brought and honestly stated I shouldn’t entertain moving forward. Own your value.
So the percentage of wiggle room is you, it’s irrelevant if they only value this position at working harder for your worth. I also think it’s a bait and switch to offer less than the higher comp achievement in the offer listed. Personally, after being unemployed for a year I’ve considered lower options but would never accept a relo with a huge cut from where the similar positions are in salary range. What is your worth? Kindly discuss the higher of your lowest expectation and explain your value. See if they can come up to that at least.
Absolutely negotiate. Remember you are only getting 2-3 pct increase on average yearly on your base. You can calculate how long it will take to reach that higher end. You should also negotiate the target bonus of 50% for the first year if they don’t up your base.
If they are not willing to negotiate a reasonable counter from you - you can expect bigger issues after joining
Relo is not easy - you (and your family) would be breaking all social connects
