Hello Mastercard employees. I have been trying to break into MC for long now.
I have 2 yrs workex post MBA. I have experience in data analysis and consulting. But I don't want to get into consulting anymore. I am looking for analytics roles. Anyone here would be able to DM and guide me on the available options at Mastercard?

Hi Fishes, I recently joined Pwc AC and was informed to update my checkpoint portfolio where we update all our investments. If we have some investments and if we do not declare them, will it be a problem or can I update it as Nothing to report. Recently I joined here so I'm having some confusion regarding this.

1. I would suggest you to find a job available through campus or via alumni network at least for six months and then migrate back to India as you will be in much better position in terms of negotiation. If you plan to move in consulting, your stint should be also in consulting
2. If you move with no workex post MBA, apologies to break this to you will treated as good as tier two mba until unless someone at partner /MD position pulls you in. (being an acquaintance) MBB and other tier 2 firms like accenture strategy, A&M, Oliverwyman pays extremely well but mostly prefers mba from top 3-4 IIMS and ISB and recruits 2 years and more professionals laterally (which is very evident in LinkedIn)
All the best!
Truly sorry for your loss. My suggestions would be:
1) If at any point of time in interview this comes up, you should tell if it organically comes up. I work in niche top MC firm where all my counterparts are from IIT+IIMABC/ISB, on the other hand I am from tier 3 MBA college, more often than not recruiter asks me what happened and why I didn’t take IIM MBA. I point-blank goes with real story that I was not from financially affluent background and tier 3 mba was giving me full scholarship and I decided to play my odds and didn’t go for debt way. To be honest, everyone understood it and focused more on my skills for rest of the interview rather than mba college debate. We all are humans at the end of the day!
2. My entire point was India is hell of a competitive market. MC by nature is very small, more competitive and follows placement route for freshers. It is very thought to get interview slot for freshers but if you have one year (bare minimum six months) from similar top consulting in Canada you have differentiated yourself from that fresher crowd. Who knows the consulting you work for in Canada might help you to move to their India offices , so a big brand consulting with 1 year work-ex put you at MUCH Better spot.
Look at EY , BCG and Bain they are actively hiring. If you're okay with IT consulting then you could check out Tech Mahindra
Thanks! I’m looking for more mainstream client facing consulting roles. That was the reason I did my MBA. Unfortunately due to family circumstances I have to move back from Toronto to Delhi which as it is puts me at a hit in terms of MBA ROI but was hoping for the experience to be similar to what I was looking for.
