Hi, question for you folks. I'm a consultant focused on DDs and a client just asked me to apply for a VP opening on their team, but told me it wasn't a slam dunk and I would still need to at least show I made an effort.

Typically in consulting each bullet point on my resume is associated with the specific project (ex: diligenced top 10 CPG company), but should I switch up and just say what the general responsibilities I've had that are relevant (ex: led 20 CPG buy side diligences)?

What are people’s thoughts on the market risk division of tier 1 IB’s like GS, JPM and MS? The pay seems to be quite high and hours no where near as bad as other areas of the bank. Thoughts?

Accepting an offer in IBD, lateraling over from consulting. Opportunity of a lifetime for me so don’t want to lose it.
But timing is horrible. I joined the Army Reserves before this opportunity was on my radar. Interviewed over several months, got the offer, but shipping out in 1 month for training for 6 months.
Do I irreversibly shoot my career by joining and immediately going on LoA? I obviously haven’t mentioned it in the interview process. Or will this be forgotten a couple years in?
