Hospitality looks easy from the outside, but those who work in it knows it takes heart.
What’s the hardest part of working in hospitality that people don’t often see?

It's the angry customers. People don't realise how draining they can be sometimes... Just the forced smile afterwards 😭

smart

Sometimes you just have to agree to get rid of people😂

For me, it’s what any manager deals with when managing others: the personalities, the attitudes, the excuses/insubordination, lack of reliability and irresponsibility, having to motivate ppl who can’t motivate themselves, holding ppl to standards they couldn’t care less to maintain…

Everyone is so unique and different!

The people, on either side of the counter. I’ve met some of the best customers, coworkers, and managers. I’ve also met some of the worst people. It’s the variety and never knowing what you’ll get that makes it difficult.

Definitely! It really has a mix of people!

It’s the stress that makes me into someone who I don’t want to be. I want to be calm and nice but sometimes the shift makes me angry and I’ve accidentally yelled at staff (once over my 20 year career) when I didn’t want to. I just didn’t like that version of myself but sometimes the industry pushes you to your limits.

Definitely, stress is hard to manage sometimes!

Does anyone have suggestions for what a salary should be for a Digital Marketing Analyst | Paid Social & Performance Media? I have 1 year of experience, the job asks for 0-1 year of experience. I feel I over meet the qualifications in some areas and just meet them in others. The recruiter said 50k is the salary the company is offer. I know I can negotiate. What are your thoughts on what the salary should be?

So i have been fortunate that i have managed to go through my career without the need for a degree. I was lucky enough to have been hired by one of the worlds top consulting firms, worked with a whole lot of big clients and travelled a lot. It's gotten to the point where I am not even asked about the lack of a degree on my resume. Personally though, it bothers me. I have a whole bunch of certifications in my industry…but just no formal degree. (cont'd)

I’m a senior at a mid tier and been working about 70-75 hours for last 3 weeks on a SEC client. Now I roll off to a new job but the manager wants me to come back and help out the team more. Should I do it? I don’t want to fail at both jobs. Is that even reasonable to ask someone to work on both jobs?
