A parent of one of my students told admin she thinks it's irresponsible that I won't be grading over Christmas break. Looking for advice on breaking into the L&E litigation field. I’m a rising third-year general litigation associate at a v10 law firm in NYC where I’ve gotten to work on a couple of L&E cases. My job search for L&E roles has been a bit of an uphill battle, because most of the roles require significant L&E experience. Would it be a bad idea to take a non-partner track role in an AmLaw100 firm’s L&E group in order to break into the field? What kinds of jobs would I be marketable for afterwards?

Need advice - I've been talking to a Partner contact at a big-4 firm where I REALLY want to work. She sent my info to the managing partner in my city, but I haven't heard anything for about 3 weeks. Been playing it cool because I know these things can take time, BUT, I just got let go from my current firm. I have til 12/15 to find a new job.

When Ogletree announced its modified associate bonus I heard it also announced a one-time bonus for non-equity shareholders in addition to NES’ standard bonus program. Any insight if associates can also expect a one time bonus in addition to the standard bonus program?

I have a governmental entity client in Texas that wants to offer 6 weeks of paid parental leave for all employees, even those who aren’t eligible for FMLA. After the paid 6 weeks, the employee can choose to continue paid leave using any accrued personal leave.

Texas does not have a paid parental leave statute.

If paid leave above what is required is offered for parents, do we also have to provide the same benefit to other employees that are eligible for unpaid leave?

What's the hiring process like for a littler case smart attorney? Is it easier to get a case smart position compared to an associate position? Not that I want to be an associate there, but just trying to see if I have a solid chance.
