No firm I worked for used Dropbox, except for a small one. The larger firms were concerned about privacy, confidentiality, and security. Many of those firms used Box and had their own firm-specific VDRs.
Last I checked, Dropbox didn’t meet HIPAA guidelines …. So that’s one thing to consider.
Not true
You shouldn’t use drop box. At the same time it is just so easy and I never have had a recipient say they can’t access contents.
Yes, I agree that Dropbox is the easiest to use for just file sharing, but not for housing all of your client files. It’s extremely unorganized and inefficient.
As a main file system, I don't think I have ever heard of DropBox being used like that, other than document sharing with clients or other law firms. For document sharing we use ShareFile by Citrix. For our firm wide document management system we use iManage Work, which integrates with your emails to be able to save critical client/attorney communications as well. It is organized and user friendly for looking up any document firmwide.
We use ShareFile by Citrix
We use Box
We use Hightail, for what it’s worth. We don’t mind it.
Coach
What? That’s pretty ridiculous
We use Worlddox through procirrus.
There are many options in the legaltech marketplace. We use kiteworks which is popular with law firms.
Also - are there additional features you need like collaboration, calendaring, etc.
I’ve seen Titanfile
I've had the same experience as @Associate 3 - the firms I've worked with either use ShareFile or iManage's Share module, which provides fantastic integration with its Workspaces and is secure.
