How are other recent accounting grads handling the salary expectations question? I don't want to lowball myself, but I also don't want to price myself out of an interview. What did you guys put for your first role to make sure you were paid fairly?

It's not really relevant or helpful what dollar amounts other people put since it's going to depend on role, location, the companies that you're applying to (public vs private), size of the company, etc. Meaning someone applying for an AP/AR role isn't going to have the same results as someone applying for a staff accounting role vs associate role in public accounting.

Some companies will put a salary range in the job description. Depending in the state you are in, it is a requirement. And alot of times, the hiring budget is in the 65-90% range of the mid-point of the salary range.

If there isn't a pay range listed, you can do some research into what different positions pay in your area, and at different company sizes.

When I negotiated my comp, all my discussions were around me being a junior and I only accepted my comp for that reason (would not have accepted if I was step above junior since it was low). Negotiations happened with HR, but my offer letter and documents never mention junior (but I have proof from HR saying I am a junior). How do I approach this with my boss as I’m not sure she’s aware I’m actually technically a junior? Revolving around asking for a move up + raise
