👀How can you get a micromanager to give you some space?

Been there, done that.
I tried doing my job well and anticipating my micromanager's requests for three and a half years, but it became toxically stressful and I had to report him. Unfortunately, I hadn't documented every single request or relevant conversation, so HR didn't (believe me) having enough evidence. So, I used my time off to position myself for a different department in another role with the same company and moved there.

I made this lateral move for my own peace of mind because I seemed to have become my former micromanager's obsession. On his off hours before and after work, he was overly fond of sending me laundry lists of things to do and check on - with the expectation that the lists would be done on or before the next business day, - regardless of what agenda was already on my plate to accomplish. The man tried to treat me like his own personal assistant or secretary. I had spoken to him on several occasions about my expectations versus his and autonomy. The way he kept repeating the word autonomy back to me made me realize he had no clue what I was talking about. The situation reached a head when during the course of several Zoom meetings we were both on, this manager texted me so continuously with questions about the meeting's content and speakers that I had to mute him in order to concentrate on the actual meeting. I ended up letting my manager's boss know about the micromanaging and tipped him off about my lateral move. Because I was around to train my replacement, it wasn't questioned.

That manager still works there, but my replacement quit after less than 6 months and so my former position is still open... Good luck, or have the good skills to seek and get a new position.

You can continue to do your job well and hope your manager will start to trust that you know how to do your job. It is the long game.

There shouldn’t be any games. They hired the individual to do the job. If they felt that they were not going to be the right fit they shouldn’t have hired the individual.

Sometimes things just aren't fixable. And if you go to his boss, there could be dynamics between them that you won't be able to overcome. So I'd stick it out as long as possible. But if it doesn't change, you might have to look for other employment.

Hello all, for those working in an agency. I wanted to see what your typical client workload is? I’ve been in my role for about a year but the workload has changed dramatically without hiring help.

Can you please share:
- the number of accounts you manage
- how many support staff you have on those accounts
- how many active pitches you send per month for those clients on average

Thanks all!

Like in Dec and March you will see less requirement due to Christmas and financial year ending. Similar what is the best period?

Because in my previous switch, 15 days were wasted due to Christmas and in March lot of requirements went on hold due to financial year ending.

Immigration lawyers had sent me a questionnaire to fill out for Manager PERM. They now just came back saying that they need to assess me for a different position. Anyone else experience this? I wonder if this means they’ll now just file a Senior Perm instead? Asked them but they’re not very responsive.

How do you approach a firm recruiting you when you weren't looking to move? It would be similar work, but I could negotiate a significant salary boost which would help my family reach financial goals faster. I like everything about my firm, but the pay is on the low side. I've never interviewed when I wasn't eager to leave my current job, and I'm uncertain how to discuss that with the recruiter & interviewer. I want to leverage it, but don't want to sound greedy.
