👻How can you stop and avoid applying to ghost job listings?

Keep an eye out for roles you see frequently reposted. If a duplicate listing shows up in your feed every month or two, there's a 99% chance it's a ghost job. No company is dealing with that kind of turnover.

I have applied for and interviewed for jobs where they took the job down as they thought they found someone and then towards the end of their 3–4-week training program ended up reposting the opening which does happen lots with call center and collection roles as people did not realize it was a job they had to be on the phone for.

Old posts I usually skip. Vague posts, too. It’s not necessarily a guarantee ghost job, but those wouldn’t be my priority while applying.

Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

(1/2) I started a new job less than a month ago at a large firm with a significant pay increase. I work remotely- which is a special arrangement. They paid for my travel to their headquarters for in-person training. After interacting with my manager and some of the attorneys, I feel like I made a mistake. Manager is demeaning and rude. A bunch of the attorneys dropped not so subtle hints that people who work from home are causing all kinds of problems. I don’t know what to do.

I've done so well in this new role within the company that they are hiring another person to assist with what I do. I've voiced to my boss that I'd like to manage this department and they indicated that this is the thought for the future. Now they are asking me to train this person while I have my plate full. Is it wrong for me to expect either a promotion or to be paid to train this person?
