How do associates and non-named partners obtain (plaintiff) personal injury cases? Do you advertise yourself, create a brand, all word of mouth through your network and family and friends, or something else? I get a great 40% of fees I bring in, but so far have only been able to bring in one minor MVA case (guy I went to high school with). I have been practicing for 1.5 years for reference. Trying to learn how to bring in cases

I’m not allowed to advertise, even though doing so would help me bring in cases and make money - my firm doesn’t allow that (so check and make sure if you’re thinking of doing it). I’ve been able to bring in cases by becoming close with some older attorneys who don’t do PI and they send me some cases. Join a network group of some type. Word of mouth is key.

I think the best way to get business generally is to do what others aren’t doing. Every PI lawyer networks with other lawyers for referrals. No one is going to send cases to you when they could send them to a partner or someone else they have a relationship with.

So, I wouldn’t go that route. Network with chiros, joint disability Facebook groups, get into places where there is a touch point to doctors. Put on some free legal sessions.

If you do the above, you can tap a solid referral base that you can dominate and will not change on whims. Plus, you don’t have to pay a referral fee to those people.

Graduated in 2020, wanted to be a graphic designer, took a job at a startup in a social media role. The boss called me the "r" word for not handling entire 13-ish accounts roster well by myself. I quit. Found a role as social media specialist. Realized (again) that I hate social media. Moved to in-house mktg manager, only to be a glorified graphic designer / someone to call the city to cut down trees. I job hopped too much, I feel my portfolio is empty. How do I restart again? I feel defeated.

Hi, I have a HR discussion with EXL this week for the post of manager.

What should be the fixed pay I should be asking for?

I have cleared technical interview at @EXL and have also given another round of interview with VP.

Q1. How long does the VP round feedback take normally?
Q2. What are the next rounds/discussion to expect if I clear this round?
Q3. What is the level and salary that I should expect for a BI developer role at 6 years experience?

Anything else that I should keep in mind during the interview process that helps me land better role/salary? TIA.

Hello I just started my first job (I’m 22) and I need to set up a 401k for matching with my company. I’m really confused how this works because I want to try to hit the IRS maximum of $19,500 for Roth contributions this year. Maybe it’s too late in the year now, but it’s asking me to pick my desired contribution % per pay period, but I’m not sure how much to do because it says it’ll kick in 1-2 pay cycles and I don’t even know when the next pay check comes yet. Any tips would be great

Additional Posts in Plaintiff’s Bar

Any advice for lateraling into a plaintiff’s law firm as a big law associate not currently doing litigation? I’m pretty sure I’d be able to learn fast since it’s what I want to do, but every position I see requires some sort of prior experience.

Would love to know what other Plaintiffs attorney thoughts are regarding Mercury. I practice in CA, and it’s generally known that Mercury is terrible in terms of settling. Liability not at issue? Meds reasonable? Fanf**kingtastic, let’s not settle and spend money and time on mediation. Just wondering, do PI attorneys from other states have similar thoughts vis a vis Mercury? Or is Mercury just flipping the bird to all Californians to spite the 20+ million fine CA has imposed?

When you send opposing counsel interrogatories and requests to produce, do you sign them or just include the typed signature Atty information at the bottom. I keep seeing some signed, some not signed. What is correct?

Any tips on how to make our clients appear more likable at trial? Some clients just don’t give off that warm and fuzzy vibe.
