Am I wrong to put as much of a down payment down on my forever home instead of just 20% so I can have a lower payment each month? The houses my wife and I (with one child, growing to two soon) are looking at are in the 700k range or so in a LCOL area (likely more when we move). Currently we have roughly 150k in equity in our home and about 50k in liquid stocks/cash. I know there’s different theories on this. I'm so overwhelmed with the cost of good furniture. Recently moved and am getting my new space ready for guests and the cost of things is astounding. I wholeheartedly believe that anything between you and the ground should be quality but 3k for a basic mattress, another 2k for a sitting chair. A step down when I looked at the Herman Miller Eames chairs, that 8k punched me in the gut. Just basic furnishings is insane. I'm terrified to start looking at art although my walls are going to need it 😭
