Rising Star
I ensure I'm at a hotel with good wifi. I work like normal during the day. I might leave the room at lunch. But otherwise treat it like wfh.
Exactly this
I tend to prioritize locations where I have consistent WiFi, quiet space for calls, and I try to limit my distractions to x amount of time per day
A few more tips:
Never work anywhere suspicious that may have background disturbances, eg a bar, beach, even Cafes I steer clear. Nothing really can beat that solid Marriott hotel WiFi.
If I know I have a lot of modeling coming up, I’ll often pack a lightweight monitor in my suitcase
I often use a virtual background to limit any distracting comments like ‘your background looks different from yesterday’. I also use a ring light to keep lighting consistent.
I like traveling places where the daytime hours are offset from normal working hours, e.g in Hawaii where I just wake up super early and then have the afternoon (after 5pm EST) to myself. Or in Europe where my US colleagues don’t get online until Noon or later, leaving the morning to myself.
Give yourself a home base for your trip. Someplace you know has an environment you can control along with reliable wifi, etc. like at home, I might spend an hour or two at a cafe or brewery if I don’t have any calls coming up.
