I live in a small apartment and try to be a minimalist. I wait a few days before actually ordering to see if I really want it. For clothes, I think about how the piece will fit into the rest of my wardrobe and how realistic I’ll actually wear it. For tech or appliances, I like to do research to see whether it’ll last and is high quality.
Pro
I'm general, I ask myself Do I really need this? Usually I don't and I don't make the purchase.

Agree with asking “do I really need this?” Hold the item in your hand and ask that. Ask deeper questions— “why do I want to buy this, what will I use it for? How many times will I use it? Will I actually wear this one year from today?”
And the more you ask it and deeply evaluate it, the more it becomes natural for you to realize what you don’t need. I walk into stores and just sigh now realizing I don’t really need any of it and won’t actually wear it past a few wears.
Another trick is to promise yourself when you buy something new you will donate or throw away something old in your closet. Anytime I get a new pair of shoes or clothes I think about what item I can part with in my closet. This helps create a balance in the closet to not tip to overconsumption and having too many things I don’t need.
Also this podcast episode gave me a rude awakening of how dark the fast fashion industry is, it’s been pretty easy for me to avoid mega fast fashion now after listening to this episode and has made me a lot more conscientious of my purchasing habits.

I am going through this too. I read a quote that I plan to remind myself of when I want to make a purchase: Admire, don’t acquire.
Love this. Easy and simple. Thank you
