I’m curious to hear which insurance company has the best work life balance for a senior commercial or middle market underwriting role. I currently only handle new business, which I love, but see that other companies like liberty make you handle new business and renewals. Any insight is appreciated.

I know it's going to be different for everyone, but at one point after your first child did you go back to work? Thinking of kids, and trying to wrap my head around what's normal, and what to expect with budgeting post delivery. Wife says 6 months after regardless of parental leave to recover. Does anyone like ID work? Currently doing work at a PI/Medmal plaintiffs firm while in school and trying to figure out where I’ll be happiest post-grad. I LOVE it, but don’t know if ID will provide more security. For context, I had a, albeit, short career prior to law school and will 30 when I graduate in May. Burned out in current role. 10-plus years post-MBA experience in Corp Fin role unable to move up to Director due to lack of "scope" - limited to no opps. Currently, work 40-50 hours week (minimal to no weekends) and earn ~250 TC. Work day is "intense" - many quick turnaround projects from task to task.

Is it worth shopping around? Can I get promo to Director level at another Tech company, earn more and still maintain same level of hours (limited weekend work)? Less intense days possible?

Today, I received an invite for a coffee chat with a consultant. I’m of course going to do both, but the emails make it seem like they are almost two separate paths/disconnected processes. Can anybody offer some insight into each of these/the process?

For folks starting at BCG (experienced hires) in August, is there any indication as to what the first week(s) of orientation and training is like? I.e., remote vs in-person (if in-person, which city), etc.
