As long as they act professional and courteous, then its fine by me. I don't like everyone, and so I don't expect everyone to like me either. Sometimes it improves over time when people get to know each other properly.

great perspective
That’s such a healthy perspective. I try to remind myself I’m not here to be liked by everyone, but I still feel it when there’s tension. It weighs on me until I talk it through or at least understand where it’s coming from. As long as there’s respect and we’re aligned on goals, I can breathe through the rest. However, it's way better when everyone gets along and we are nice at work, we don't need to be besties but at least nice/respectful.

Thank you! I agree that it's definitely uncomfortable when there's tension, but ultimately respect > being liked
I don't get caught up in office politics or popularity contests. Fortunately, my current workplace is free from any drama, but I also wouldn't tolerate anything but respect in a professional setting. If an environment is toxic, it's not for me and no amount of money could change that.

i find it so hard to avoid politics, im glad to hear your workplace is drama free
I try my best to sidestep any personality clashes in the workplace. I've worked for people I didn't personally care for or respect, but within the context of the work things went along smoothly. And if someone I worked with didn't like me, well, I'd get over it. As long as people do their job I don't care. Where I draw the line is when personal animosities become an issue. There can be those rare occasions when people need to be separated just to keep things running amicably.

same here, I don't necessarily respect everyone but I obviously don't let it show
Do you want to move further up on your career? If so, then you might want to think about leadership development.

hey Karen, curious why you're recommending leadership development based off this question :)
