“Oh hey! Nice to see you”.
Look them over with a slightly searching look. “How ARE you?” in a way that makes it sound like I’ve heard they aren’t doing great.
Then as they start to answer, say oh my gosh so sorry I’m running late to a call. Catch up later. And walk away.

Fcb2: oh hey! Nice to see you.
Say “hi, nice to meet you”

Nice I like that
Best revenge is leading a happy life. I'd just treat them with grace and kindness because in the time between I last saw them and now I'm doing GREAT. But def keep an eye on them and never extend real trust.
You didn’t check and see if they were working there before you applied? Rookie move.
@OP, congratulations on the basic reading comprehension. Yes, I am expressing incredulity and scorn at your blithe dismissal of remaining informed about your professional network.
Honest answer? Crop dust them every time you cross paths. If you know where they sit, make best friends with chipotle.
Be the bigger person
Booooooooooo
Tough question. I would try to be friendly with them. Although they could stab you still. Personal experience.
I was at a lunch in Cannes. Across the table I saw an old colleague who I always liked. Went over and told him how great it was to work with him and how much i appreciated him. He looked very confused: it was then I realized I’d been praising an arch enemy who was the good guys doppelgänger. I realized mid-sentence, stopped talking and walked away. Don’t do this 😂
“Look at you! Ugh, you are so brave.”
Big wet kiss. Don’t hesitate.
Plot twist, that would never happen because we are not of the same caliber.
If this were to ever happen to me, I’d just try my best to remain cordial and professional. We all work to get a paycheck.
Cordial smile and nod/wave. No reason to ignore them, but I don’t need to go out of my way for some grand greeting.
I wouldn't be snarky, nor would I ignore the person or pretend that we don't know each other, even if that's how they want to maneuver with me. If we have locked eyes in passing or are in the same area among others, I would include them in my salutations. I wouldn't be fake, but I would always be professional. You never know who you'll need as you navigate your career. Sometimes people you once despised may end up being your partners or coworkers again or even your supervisors, and you never want the big boss to see that you can't shelve past bad blood to get your job done. Aside from that, I wouldn't have an additional word to utter to them, if I disliked them that much.
That’s rough. I left a job when that person to me became my manager. Otherwise if there are any incidents that cross the line, take note of the date, time, and people present to make a case to HR. That’s the advice I got from my good friend who was head of HR at his job.
Report them to HR. Doesn’t really matter for what. Just get something on file. You’ve already lost the fight if you wait for the other guy to throw the first punch.
Whatever you do, don’t put your hand over your face and act like they can’t see you. That’s what my arch enemy did to me.
handle? i just make sure i look damn good 💄💋
