That's desperately sad, but you're not alone. Sit outside in the sunshine at the weekend and sketch out a long-term plan. Include non work stuff that you'd like to do. That may lift you out of what is hopefully just short term doldrums.
I was told by a mentor, early on, to take a year off when I was 30. Ended up waiting until 32, left my agency job, snowboarded my hmm off for a year, then came back. Fascinating how real time away gives you a lot of perspective on many levels. Might be something to consider.
Go to the church! Helps a lot!
In the same boat OP. It’s miserable and really the only thing I’ve found that helps is to become numb to it all. At the very least it helps to not be in the emotional rollercoaster of it all.
I think you should try to hone in on exactly what's making you miserable. Maybe you just need to switch to another brand or work under a more inspiring CD. Or. Maybe you need a new agency that's doing better work. If it's none of those things then maybe you need a career switch.
It mat also help to look at work as a practice for something you do on the side. Like if you start a site, you could leverage your work relationships to help you grow that site. And that'll keep you interested in coming in every day.
First off, if you’re in advertising and you’re bored then that’s a problem. See, there’s plenty of interesting business challenges and stress to go around, and money to go with those solutions! So if you’re really bored then you simply need a promotion. Usually when things seem tired and old, you need to jump a level. However you need to do it, do it. Then, when met with new challenges the adrenaline starts flowing again.
Mentally quit.
Oh I’ve already mentally quit. And am totally numb to it all. To me that makes coming to work and actually trying to care even harder. Not a fun rut to be in!
Take a consecutive two weeks off. Total battery recharge.
Focus on your life outside of work. Ask to be switched off your brand and onto another?
