Not required, but good to have.
In general I found it hard to work and study at the same time. I knocked out as many tests as I could before working. You'll eat your nights and weekends with studying.
GT doesn’t require it? Intersting. I guess they want to lock you in as it would prevent job transferability given most other firms require some sort of accreditation?
Yeah, from this perspective alone would say getting the CPA is definitely worth it
Don't have a CPA, never required it either. I know a few who have let it go inactive.
Go to an advisory firm if you want to go that route though so you can avoid the compliance / cpd completely.
Obviously limits your exit options, but that's up to you.
Would encourage you to get it. The test itself is not hard if you are disciplined and set aside time to study.

U think this job helps if youre starting from scratch or thats a diff beast?
i recommend you get it, who knows if you’ll be in FDD forever and if not, applicants with CPA will be preferred to those without. With that being said, EY FDD does not require a CPA (even at manager level)
KPMG also does not
I don't work in FDD but I passed in about a year while working full time and have multiple kids
Kudos to you!
